If you live in an area long enough you just get to know what’s best around you. You’ve got your favorite pizza parlor, burger joint, Mexican restaurant, movie theatre, and if you don’t know anything else you know the best amusement park! If you’re in new Jersey the best Amusement Park around is going to have to be Morey’s Piers hands down! Whether you’re just visiting New Jersey, or live their the place for an exciting weekend will always be Morey’s.

The best way to find out for real about New Jersey amusement parks is to visit their website. Check out schedules, rides, and maps to where you’re going before you get there. What better way to spend a family beach vacation. I’ve never heard of a better way to just let go and unwind for a little while than spending the week or weekend at Morey’s Piers! Just the name makes me think of a family vacation at the beach. Oh what I wouldn’t give for a nice long vacation in New Jersey, spending time with the family as we lounge around, and have a crazy fun time at Morey’s Piers! That is my kind of vacation if I ever heard of one!

Oh wow, I’m so freakin excited! I’ve been up all night working on ApplyMyWay.com and it’s looking good! Yeah I know, here I am like a year later FINALLY putting the site up, but that’s okay. Things are coming along smoothly, and if everything continues looking how it does… we’re talking 2-3 weeks before everyone can make their own applications and host them for free! Be it you own a business and need to hire some new employees that you’d like to screen with an application first, or you want to get into the dating scene and found some people online that maybe you’re less likely to ask some questions directly too but need to know some things. The application process features unlimited questions, unlimited choices for answers (along with essay style, short answer, check all that apply, and multiple choice). You’ll also get your own profile where you can display what applications you’ve created, which you’ve taken, a picture of yourself, and a short bio.

The site is basically just awesome… I can’t wait to get it up and rolling! It honestly shouldn’t be too long before it’s ready… just needs to go up! When I get it up though, I highly expect lots of peoples help in promoting, testing, and just generally using the site. Have fun, and get those signed up for your ninja forces.

You guys know that with my now 18 sites that I run (and growing at least on a monthly basis if not daily) it’s important that I have über reliable service when it comes to web hosting! Especially with recently moving to a new dual core 2.2ghz, 2 gigs RAM, 250GB raid 1 hdd I’ve spent a LOT and I mean a lot of time on web hosting review sites, and on hosting forums. Yeah, it’s important to get a good price, but that’s the least of my concerns if I can’t get reliable service, well reliable and powerful service. This silly blog gets nearly 600 people a day to it so it’s necessary that I get as much bandwidth as possible, since this site is just a personal blog, and my other sites have a much higher audience as they’re my money making sites!

Make sure that when you’re looking for a new hosting plan you do your homework and look at several web hosting rating sites. I’ve looked over webhostinggeeks.com and like the format a lot, it’s nice to hear back from other customers on issues. I was on the Yahoo Review page, and noticed that many other customers have had a very similar experience to what I had… which is good because since Yahoo! switched to an unlimited plan I almost considered using them again like I had 6 years ago… I can honestly say I’m pretty glad I hadn’t… wouldn’t of known though without sites like webhostinggeeks.com

“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5

That’s not the whole verse, but that is what I’ve been reminded of throughout this week. Actually, the entire verse is much more ironic and appropriate for my situation. I know the original short verse ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.” comes from Deuteronomy but the verse from Hebrews is much more appropriate as when Jesus is quoting that verse he is speaking of marriage… something that for myself I’ve considered to be at least a year or more out before I had to worry about it.

I’ve been kind of silent on here, and there’s good reason for that. The news I have to bear is something that I’d prefer to tell my friends and family in person, so if you’re close to me and not heard anything of my life recently, stop reading now! haha, no but seriously this is the kind of thing best heard in person, so if you don’t know, just ask the next time you see me.

My Bible translates that passage as “I will never leave you, nor forget you.” something that us humans have a hard time comprehending, because we forget about people all the time, and can’t be around everyone at every moment. We’ve got plenty of examples in the Bible of God not forgetting His people… and yet we still doubt. God has always been faithful, but we don’t quite comprehend that either. I see a lot from people online, visiting the many social networking sites that I frequent there seems to be more debate about religion than ever… one question that comes up often is “If God is this (fill in the blank loving, compassionate, just, etc.) why does he allow (fill in the blank death, disease, murder, etc.)” the general Christian response isn’t bad, most of the time going along the lines of “well God gives us the choice to either live in sin, or live in His Grace” not incorrect… but it also leaves out a key element. We live in a world at war.

In Daniel there’s a story of how Daniel had a dream or something that he couldn’t quite interpret. He started fasting and praying more intensely for the meaning… it didn’t come to him for 21 days. On the 21st day an angel appears to him out of breath and barely able to speak the message he came to deliver. The angel starts out by apologizing for taking so long, The Lord had sent him the first day of his fast, but he ran into a very powerful demon who delayed him. The angel fought for days before going back to Heaven to get Michael to help him break through the lines. We’re in a world at war… and the greatest trick of the enemy is to get us to believe that everything is how it should be.

Even in all of this The Lord will never leave us, nor forget us. It’s a good thing too, you don’t realize how comforting those words are until you’re in a situation where you actually see the invisible war of this world. Recently I’ve been in a position to more clearly see the danger of the world around me. A little more than a week ago I got the news that Rose is pregnant… It’s not the worst of news, but certainly on the scary end of things. Never-the-less God has managed to provide just as the time is right. In fact, because of how God has been taking care of things I’m more excited about being a father than scared of how things could turn out with the situation.

haha, so I was at ZLB Plasma donation center earlier today. Long story, but one day I was telling Rose about how I used to go all the time when I didn’t have a job (see that’s the problem with freelance work, some days you’ll have a job, others you simply won’t). She’s just out of nursing school so of course wants to get into nursing, well in the mean time she’s been watching her bank account slowly dwindle down. In an effort to help her keep afloat and paying for groceries we decided to go back to donating plasma… well back for me, it was her first time selling her body to the medical industry. It’s kinda funny because in all the brochures and stuff they show these college age kids smiling, excited, dressed all pretty, totally more happy than they should be about being stuck with a very large needle and having their blood drained, plasma seperated, then the blood pumped back into your body. First of all very few of the people in there are anything like that… I’m one of the few skinny college age kids that comes in. Most of the people in there are… well less than savory people. And you don’t get many skinny little guys like myself either. Your first four visits you get $40 then after that you’re paid by your weight… me at 145lbs I only get $15 a visit, so it’s really not worth the trip after that… I’ll keep going as long as Rose wants to since it does mean twice a week when I see her my gas is paid for!

Back to the regulars at ZLB though. There are more than a few that I know for sure are hobo’s, a few drug addicts (even though they generally keep them out because you’ve got to clear all sorts of qualification tests), and nobody is all prettied up when they go in. You don’t just walk into a plasma donation clinic unless you’ve got some sort of need… and it really doesn’t help with the neighborhood it’s in, which is probably intentional. It’s not actually in a really bad neighborhood, but not far from. So of course you get a lot of the people from that neighborhood in there… because if you’ve got a good job and are paying the bills there’s no reason to come and spend 5 hours in the plasma donation clinic for $40 (at the most).

Well the people working there aren’t much better either. Besides the fact that you’re being stuck with a 17 guage needle by someone who has absolutely no medical training (just on the job training of how to shove a needle in peoples arm), many of them are just as scary looking as the people in there. Your fears are only amplified by the words that come out of their mouth. When I was getting my “mini physical” to make sure I was healthy enough to donate plasma, first she’s almost surprised by the fact that I’ve got no tatoos or piercings, then you’ve got to go through a series of questions about if you’ve ever had sex with another man, or if you’ve had sex with a man who’s had sex with another man since 1977, or if you’ve ever taken drugs or money for sex… you know the standard questions then you take a short quiz on what activities could increase your risk for AIDS. It’s pretty easy besides I’ve read the stuff a hundred times before but when I didn’t get any of the questions wrong she says to me “You remember real good.” I didn’t know how exactly I was supposed to respond to that… I mean seriously… I wasn’t sure if I should correct her on her grammar, go into my whole “Yeah I’ve got a great visual memory” speech, or what. I chose the “Smile and nod” out but was sort of stunned that people actually use that kind of language in their every day speech.

You just can’t escape ‘em any more. I changed the email address in both because I don’t want any silly people being added to the ultimate spam list online… I’m pretty used to it owning 17 websites the only way I could of escaped it was with private registration years ago… now it’s way too late and I really don’t care, every once in a while I actually am somewhat entertained by these spam emails. I mean seriously… who’s going to believe an email like that? Obviously someone did or it wouldn’t of been circulating so much. I say the same thing about the “Want a penis so huge that no girl will ever want to have sex with you” emails as well… who responds to them? Who buys the meds? Are we really that sick and deprived of a world? A lot of people complain about the spam messages, there’s really only one solution though QUIT F-ING BUYING THE PRODUCTS!!! If there was no money in it spammers wouldn’t send out their messages plain and simple. Don’t click on the links, and don’t buy the products and the spam messages go away. I also have my emails set up in such a way that my Paypal account is attached to an email that NO ONE will ever know… if I get an email via paypal to any other email address I know right away that it’s spam… if I do get a legit seeming email with fairly good cloaking on the URL and return email address all I do is go to paypal.com and see if anything is really up… NEVER click on links within emails unless you are positive that they are safe.

Also if you don’t have an anti-virus there is no reason for that since there are plenty of great free antivirus products out there! I’ve used AVG’s free version for years… I’ve also paid for plenty of services both virus, spam, and malware protection. AVG has a great root kit detector also free as well.

I’ve been noticing more and more how complex it really is to get the whole 64bit generation to launch. You’ve got programmers who code poorly and can’t compile in 64bit mode, or those that just don’t care to compile in 64bit mode because the market isn’t big enough… I really don’t see how it’s not a big enough market, I’ve got 4 gigs of RAM which is pretty much standard anymore, and yes 32bit systems can go up to 4 gigs. As I work I’ve been finding the limits of that 4 gigs more and more often. Here very soon I will be going to 8 gigs, and am glad that I’ve got a 4 gig flash drive for my ReadyBoost because I don’t know what I’d do without that extra swap space (even though I’ve got 4 gigs of swap space on my 10k HDD that get’s used too). In short I don’t know how so many people are still operating in a 32bit environment!

Then again, I do see why some people do it. The only compatability issues as far as hardware goes that I’ve experienced with 64bit Windows Vista was with my SoundBlaster X-Fi Platinum which isn’t really a problem with 64bit at all, their Vista drivers just suck anyways… I’ve had to go back to “onboard” sound because of the random popping, cracking, and fuzz noises that would occur without warning, or reason in some programs (Mostly Counter-Strike: Source or any Source engine based game such as Half-Life, but once it started it’d occur in Windows Media Player, or even with flash players online). But that doesn’t really have anything to do with what my current troubles with the 64bit world are.

Most of my compatibility issues are with software… even though Windows can and will run 32bit programs many of them simply refuse to be installed on a 64bit operating system. The first time I ran into this was with PCTools Spyware Doctor, I cancelled my subscription after they charged me the recurring fee *mumblemumblemumble* even though I didn’t have the program installed at the time, and didn’t want to… but figured since I got it for another year I’d reinstall it. Only problem was that they don’t have compatibility for people who actually use their computer, which I find funny because SpywareDoctor always slowed changing screen names or logging off to a deathly crawl even on a system with 2 gigs of RAM, dual core 2.6ghz processor, and 10k RPM HDD. I’ve also found it really hard to get good pirating software to work on 64bit systems… most pirating software is old technology that was just coded right, no frills, nothing flashy or pretty… just good code. And I love that, but some things are going to need to update with the new generation because a lot of the good old software pieces for pirating or reading pirated software won’t work on 64bit systems.

I discovered this when I was trying to download and install a pirated copy of DreamFall: The Longest Journey. Before you go calling me a bad person and what not I actually bought the game the day it came out, and payed my $40 for it… problem was that half-way through the game crapped out on me. There’s this one puzzle where you have to figure out how to get through this magical door, I did everything right and it should of worked but it simply didn’t. I finally looked things up online with an online walk-through of the game, it said to do things exactly like I did… so I tried again to no avail. After that I tried getting a support ticket from the game manufacturers, all I wanted was a fresh copy of the game… obviously they refused. I kind of quit caring for a while, but now Rose was wanting to get into a little bit of gaming, and she said that she liked action/adventure more story type games, and anything involving vampires. So I was looking through my games, knowing I have BloodRayne somewhere and Oblivion feeling they’d fulfill her desires in a game I saw my DreamFall box and figured she’d love it, like I did before it quit freakin’ working *mumblemumblemumble* so then came the problem of how to get the game working without rebuying it… BUT OF COURSE! We go back to our old ways of pirating everything! I’ve already got the legit CD’s and game so all I need is for it to install properly to be good. Only thing is it’s been more than a little frusterating trying to get some of my old pirate software to work the way it should. Oh well, it’s a challenge and I like challenges.

So I finally did it… 100% of all my sites are now on the new server I’ve got rented. It only took me all night to do! Things started out okay, I mostly just set up all my sites to download into named folders… not a big deal. When you’re downloading 14 websites it takes a little bit of time though. After the downloads were complete the DNS changes could begin… this is where it got interesting. I’ve never really had any troubles with DNS changes before, they always give you the “This could take up to 12 hours” message… blah, blah, blah. I’ve never had it take more than 20 minutes… until last night that is. One by one some of the sites would pop onto the grid and I’d upload the files for it, create whatever databases needed to be made, and move onto the next. This continued until about 5am when all of the remaining sites that hadn’t come into view for me decided not to (including this one). Figured if after 5 hours they hadn’t shown up they weren’t going to I went to sleep. At about 9am I woke up and CodySortore.com had finally become accessible. Shortly after uploading the files for this site, and setting up the database ArchmailleDesigns.com became accessible. I’m still waiting on three of my sites, but all of my important sites are up and running now so we’re happy with that! I started getting tired again after having breakfast, and uploading the sites that I could so I went back to sleep.

I was rudely awoken by a dream… of course about my sites. I was having a dream that I was checking HollysFund.com when all of a sudden after a page refresh the site was gone simply with the message “This site has been hacked by so and so h4xz0r group” I just remember my heart dropping as I didn’t make a backup of the site last night since I was working on essentially backing up and moving all my other sites. Needless to say I got out of bed and checked the site immediately, and made a backup.

Among one of the sites I’m still waiting on to get all cleared in the DNS settings is applymyway.com which just so happens to be the one I’m going to begin work on. I figure if I can kick out a site ASAP using CakePHP here within a month or two have a fully functional application building site, then I can launch it and start pulling in hopefully a decent revenew from it, and if not then at the very least start building a good sized mailing list.

Rose and I just spent the last 4 days together and one of the things that we did during that time was watch “The Princess Bride” as I’ve been told by a number of my friends that I need to watch it anyways. In general it’s been an amazing week, to start off I’ve spent the last few weeks either coding or this week promoting HollysFund.com a site for my mom’s friend who’s been diagnosed with breast cancer, doesn’t have insurance, or vacation time so it’s an attempt at getting her some help. It’s been pretty successful so far, which is always exciting. The outpouring of love and compassion for her has been great.

Then the uh “weekend” came a bit early for me as on Thursday Rose and I started hanging out and stayed together until Sunday. Even today we ended up hanging out again for a little get together with some of her friends. It’s always been joked about between my friends that I can’t be around anyone for more than two days without going crazy, which in the past has always been true, humans just annoy me… all of ‘em. No matter how intelligent or funny you are, chances are something about you will annoy me if we are around one another for very long. But I can honestly say that after this weekend I’m more in love with Rose than ever… don’t get me wrong I’d like to be able to get more work done than I did, but at the end of the day I’d like the opportunity to have her in my arms. I like how Rose put it, I think it was Sunday or maybe one of the other days we were together refering to one of her work week days she said that she wishes that she could come home to me… I do too, being around her relaxes me, we’re just comfortable together, and it’s amazing. So yeah, even though I’ve still not even really said much on here about Rose, she’s my girl, and I’ll do whatever I must to keep her.

Speaking of not keeping up with things on here that’s actually partly due to Rose… but not entirely. A few factors contribute to that 1) spending at least two nights a week with Rose, and usually more I’ve got to keep up on my work 2) been working more for MTV 3) been doing some actual coding work, and kicking out sites of my own… just finished up on the Holly’s Fund website, and have done what I know to promote it, the rest I’ll leave up to God for that. Now that I’m done with that I’d like to move on to coding either AgapeBeacon.com or ApplyMyWay.com probably the latter as it’s a little easier, and also could grow quicker giving me a platform (and email mailing list) for launching Agape Beacon. So it looks like that’s how things are going to go… however I really need to move all of my websites over to my new server (this ones not even been moved over yet). I’ve got this killer server rented, and the only sites I’ve got on it are brand new not even coded sites so it’s really a waste of money. I need to move all 17 (seems like that number grows every day) of my sites over to the new server, and slowly get to building sites and coding platforms to make them all unique, and hopefully profitable. Since as of now I’ve only got three profitable websites because I’ve never established some of my others. My goal is to have that change over the next year or so.

Wow, so I can officially say that I’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity that has been shown to Holly. A couple of weeks ago my mom asked me to make a website for her friend Holly Fannin, so I did. The reasons she wanted me to make a website for Holly is because she was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. In fact this is her diagnosis sheet:

I’m not sure what everything on there means, but I know it’s bad. What’s worse is that Holly has no insurance, no vacation time, and is the sole provider for her family. When I heard this coming from my mom I accepted the challenge of creating a fundraising site for Holly. Of course it’s not all about funds, prayer is much more important in this situation than a few measly dollars. But what I’ve seen in the last few days since I finished up the site and began spreading the word is an amazing generosity! Numerous comments left on the site, tons of prayers, and help beyond belief in the department of spreading the word. Magnus Grafex of Family Help Tree gave the most amazing donation when I was asking bloggers to help spread the word through their blogs. Magnus went above and beyond what I asked and not only blogged about Holly’s situation, but put up a $100 campaign on PayPerPost at $5 a piece to get other bloggers to help in spreading the word! The FaceBook group has grown to over 100 people in a matter of days (even though it is depressing to see the “snowball effect” group with 90,000 members after 7 days and the growth of Holly’s group growth slow to a crawl), and last night over 300 people visited the site via StumbleUpon.com in less than a 30 minute time period!

The outpouring of love for Holly has been amazing to watch over the last few days… but it’s also been exhausting. I’ve promoted a Mixx submission, passed around the StumbleUpon link, sent out invitations to the FaceBook group, and been to hundreds of blogs asking for any assistance they can give. Needless to say I’m tired, it’s been three days of promoting and watching stats to see what’s working and what isn’t. So I’m taking a break today. When the articles start coming in from the PPP campaign I’ll stumble all of them to get more traffic, and I still have yet to beg the people of BlogCatalog.com to help me out, but I still only have 60 friends on there so I’m building up the friends list first, and then it will be time to ask for help. Today I’m going to do a little bit of room cleaning, and put up my mom’s blinds in her room, don’t let the message stop though!

These are the words of my mother for the site HollysFund.com:

Hi! I’m Heather Sortore. I have known Holly for 5 years. I do Physical Therapy on some of the residents were Holly works. Holly is a med tech with a great deal of responsibility on her job. It is also very physically demanding. she gives residents baths, passes medication, dresses people, undresses people, cleans them up, makes beds, and serves meals. She goes above and beyond the call of duty to help her residents. She loves them all. Holly is a good , hard working woman.

Holly Fannin is also my friend. when I found out she had stage 3 breast cancer my heart went out to her. Holly is a gentle easy going woman that lives on a very modest income. She lives in a trailer with her twin sons that just graduated from high school. The assisted living facility she works for recently sold after she has worked there for eight years. Holly lost 3 weeks of paid vacation. She now has no vacation time and will start chemotherapy treatments after the cancer has been removed from her breast. She is going to try and work during her chemo. She could not afford health insurance since she lives on an income below the poverty level. Even though she frequently works double shifts and many long hours. My friend has had a run of very bad luck.

However, I am convinced God wants me and my son Cody to do what we can to help her. Cody is talented in creating websites so I asked him if he could make a website for Holly. Cody graciously agreed. I thought if enough people see her website and start to pray for healing, financial relief, and God’s grace maybe God would see fit to hear our prayers for Holly. Then I was reminded of the scripture Matthew 18:19 & 20 which says, “Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” So please pray with me for Holly and her family. Let’s see God’s mighty hand move on her life.

Holly is a humble woman and when I told her about me and Cody’s plan. She said, “she did not want to burden people with her problems.” I reminded her that we are supposed to carry each others burdens. I said people like to help each other and if enough people gave her even a dollar she might be able to get the rest her body needs while recuperating. She might be able to pay some of her hospital bills. Holly agreed it would not be a bad idea and Mike which was working with her on Independence Day said it would not hurt to let as many people as possible know about her situation.

If God lays it on your heart to pray for Holly, Please Pray. If God lays it on your heart to give to Holly then give as God has blessed You. Thank you for being God’s servant in whatever way possible.
God Bless,
Heather Sortore

I actually wrote the whole site in PHP for a few reasons, 1) obviously so that I could easily edit the pages without opening Vi in SSH, or using FTP to upload and download pages, just go to their edit page online and update them. and 2) if the site is a success I would like to move it over to allowing others in need to create their own donation pages so that they too can get help. I know the community of people online, I’ve worked online for a long time and I’ve seen their generosity, show that generosity to a stranger and lift her up in your prayers, in sharing her story, in donating to her cause. In the Gospel of Mark there’s a story of a paralyzed man who couldn’t go see Jesus where he was teaching, but four of his friends carried him, cut a hole in the roof and lowered him down to Jesus… because of the faith of his friends he was healed. Will you be that friend to Holly?

Have you ever lived outside of your comfort zone? I don’t mean like, walking out of your comfort zone to talk to some poor stranger, or even a day or two out side of what your norm is… I mean living it, week in and week out. That’s pretty much how I feel right now… for the last 8 months or so I’ve actually tried staying out of my comfort zone, makes things more exciting.

Anyways, what have I been up to? Not that many of you care, especially when I’ve not updated in some time. but that question can be answered pretty simply. Two things pop into my head when I think of what’s been going on with me, I’ve been dating Rose and working! Rose is probably the biggest reason why I’ve been out of my comfort zone. I don’t think she even knows it, I’m used to being my usual anti-social, blogging, website building, gamer, that rarely leaves the house for more than a few hours a day to ride my bike around Parkville. With her I’m out of sorts, and I’ve got to be strong still… it’s a good stretch and I actually really like it. I’ve not really been on here to say that I’m dating Rose, and at some point in time I’ll really write something meaningful, I’m in all business mode right now though!

As far as working goes the biggest project I’ve been working on is HollysFund.com which has been great, but I’ll be glad to get the finishing touches on it this week. Holly is a woman my mother has known and worked with for five years, who has breast cancer and is in great need of support. My mother commisionned me to build a website for her and see how the community of the interwebs could help her. I agreed and have been pounding away at that. The site is up and ready to go! There are a few finishing touches for me left, pictures, some more divisions in the CSS for the pictures and comment box stuff… but it’s good. I’m only hoping that you all out there on the net show Holly the love and support that can be found in this world. I’ve seen the power of community on the internet, now show it to someone who really needs help! The most you could do for Holly would be to pray for her, I know you probably don’t know her, I just met her this last week… but God knows who she is, and loves her.

Ok, this is for all you silly people who keep complaining about me buying you on MySpace with the own your friends application, get over it. If I have owned you on the app it’s because you’re cheap, nothing more. Yeah, there are a few of my friends that I’ll pay a lot for, other than that you’re being used to make a little money. I don’t pay over $700 for anyone to insure that I get the most out of gifting you, because I only make $1,250 for each person I give away… so in order to keep my costs down I’ve got to find cheap people, which I do through several means. If you are going to complain or ask why I own you at least let me respond too! lol, I love it that all the people that have complained so far with the “who are you, why’d you buy me, and all my pets?” messages I can’t respond because only their friends can send them a message… and of course I can’t add you as a friend to send you the message because gotta know your last name and email address in order to do that… so my message to you is QUIT COMPLAINING!!! It’s just a game, you’re being used to make a little money in the game, get over it.

3am and I’m outside walking down the desolate road as the rain falls around me. I must of caught the end of the storm because the rain was light and sparse unlike I was expecting from looking out the windows. My goal was still within reach, even with the dissipating storm. My goal was the creek, I hadn’t been down to the creek in some time as with only three days a week to work around faire it had been a good month since I’d had “time” to visit my old friend of rushing waters. The storm created an ever inviting time to reacquaint myself with the rushing waters. I hadn’t been down to the creek during a storm in years, but it was refreshing. I came barefoot this time as I planned to spend some time in the waters. Walking across the six inch deep water that rushes fast enough to knock you on your butt and wash you downstream if you don’t keep your footing is intense during the day… and nearly petrifying at night. One of the main reasons I went down there was because of the rushing waters though. When we were younger we used to explore the creek all the time, and went down to it a few times during big storms because the fast moving water just made the whole exploration situation more fun! One thing we learned back then was to “water ski” by holding onto the edge of the bridge and putting your feet in the water you could glide atop the water if it was moving fast enough. That’s what I was headed for at 3am! By the time I was ready to move on I had hardly noticed but there wasn’t even a light drizzle of rain any longer. I took the opportunity to go and walk around the neighborhood on my way home. The clouds are what intrigued me most as I walked home though. Sometimes they glow orange at night during a large storm, and tonight was one of those nights. I speculate that the reason for it is similar to why fiber optics work. The clouds carry sunlight from the other side of the world and bring it to us in their densly formed water droplets.

I really just need a graphic designer at this point!

Ok, so I’m very close to being able to release the story. The website for it is www.A2562.com which will make more sense once I put out the first weeks entry. I feel that in order for the site to be a success it needs all the elements of a good site, which I would like for it to have… Even though my writing style has been praised from what I’ve shown so far, and most of my friends are anxious to read a little bit I’m afraid that with how fickle people can be online without good graphics to go along with each entry or at least one good picture per post people will quickly become bored. I know that’s one reason why this site has never really boomed even with the many visits I get few stick around to read what I have to say all the time.

I also need to get permissions figured out on my site… I can’t CHMOD 777 everything, and because I tossed it up on my new server it’s being funny. I think I need to create some new users for the server because it’s like Root owns everything so the users who should have access to things don’t. Many of my websites can’t even write to their own directories so gotta get that figured out, and then try and get the site together. If I can’t find someone to illustrate my story that’s fine I’ll just go on without it, but I would prefer it to be more complete.

I’m actually out of my own free will promoting another website here! haha, I know, no one is paying me or anything. I guess you might say that I feel that I sort of owe it to Petition Online for all the valuable service they’ve provided over the years. They sort of seem like an old friend of mine, and I really hate to see them losing power! When I first started using PetitionOnline.com they were a PR7 and doing quite well! Over the years I’ve made 29 petitions myself… amazing to look back at them. Most were complete silliness in fact and I use them because you can add an option to put websites with your signatures so I use them for link quality back to my sites. In creating so many petitions I’ve also created a lot of content for them and they get money out of that so it’s really a win, win situation for us. Allowing URL’s in your signatures isn’t always a great idea, and I’ve started to advance my petition creating techniques to avoid spammers with forcing people to either agree or disagree with the petitions! It works out, and yet even with how few petitions I actually see that allow you to put links in your signatures they still get quite a few spammers, so I figure whatever I can do to get things out of the ordinary is a good thing.

Anyways, the reason I am really writing this is because Petition Online seems to of added a new feature! PetitionOnline.com is a small branch of Artifice Inc. From every aspect I look at it PetitionOnline.com has no bearings on the Artifice company, but I will give them credit for creating the site! Artifice, Inc. is an architecture company, I’ve never been exactly sure on what they do, but I believe they make CAD software, along with some other things relating to the business. So where do petitions come in? Quite simple, they give link quality! What better way of getting thousands of incoming links to your website than allowing other people to create the content for you? In the early days of Web 2.0 the concepts behind PetitionOnline.com are simply ingenious, and have even kept their strength through several evolutions of the net… but since PetitionOnline was doing it’s job, and it was not their main business it got neglected quite a bit with very few updates and slow at that. Because of this neglect the strength they once found in Petition Online has begun to dwindle a bit. The once iconic PR7 PetitionOnline.com has slipped all the way down to a PR5 even though Petition Online is stronger than they’ve ever been! The reason for this is simple, content is being spewed out on the net at an astronomical rate. Most of you don’t look at things this way but every article I publish on this site is a new page, every ten I publish is another new page, every different day I publish on is another new page, every tag I include is yet ANOTHER new page… which is partially why Petition Online did so good in the early days, they took advantage of this page creation early on. Every petition created was three new pages, every hundred signatures was another new page. This very much so helped out the spread of information for Petition Online, however others have caught on and things seem to be changing rapidly. For one I generally include a minimum of five tags per entry on this blog alone, that’s six pages created with every entry no matter what. The way that PR or Page Rank works is simple it takes the number of indexed pages that Google has online and gives you a rating based upon the number of pages that point to yours on average with the number of pages that point to other pages on the net… it also factors in the strength of those links. The people behind Petition Online finally got the drift though and have now added a feature that allows you to add tags to your petition. This feature will definitely increase the value of Petition Online again, only I fear it may be a slow process, which is why I am content with helping them out a bit with some incoming links and news articles to get people using their new feature.

I’m sure many of you have used or signed petitions on PetitionOnline.com and surely owe them a favor for hosting the site at the very least. I know with their addition of the FaceBook button a while back I’ve seen a number of petitions end up on Facebook as groups getting people to sign their petition, which is very much so a help, but it needs more. We’ve got to keep the free ideas marketplace alive!

Rose and I saw the 10,000 BC the other night, and it reminded me of a theory I’ve heard a few times, but as most people have done didn’t put much credit into it. The theory is that when Atlantis sunk or was destroyed or whatever the inhabitants escaped, mostly to Egypt, a few to South America, and some others scattered elsewhere. Where you really lose me on that whole theory is that most of the scholars who promote such ideals also say that the inhabitants of Atlantis were of humanoid alien decent… What I don’t find completely impossible is that the stories, and myths of Atlantis may be based on fact. Even supported by biblical stories, which is where the tower of babel comes in on my way out there theory.

Ok, so let’s start with the story itself from chapter 11 of Genisis:

1 At this time the whole world spoke one language, and everyone used the same words.2 As people moved from the east, they found a plain in the land of Babylonia and settled there.

3 They said to each other, “Let’s make bricks and bake them to make them hard.” So they used bricks instead of stones, and tar instead of mortar.4 Then they said to each other, “Let’s build a city and a tower for ourselves, whose top will reach high into the sky. We will become famous. Then we will not be scattered over all the earth.”

5 The Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the people had built.6 The Lord said, “Now, these people are united, all speaking the same language. This is only the beginning of what they will do. They will be able to do anything they want.7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not be able to understand each other.”

8 So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city.9 The place is called Babel since that is where the Lord confused the language of the whole world. So the Lord caused them to spread out from there over the whole world.

This doesn’t speak of exactly how advanced they had become… or what means they were using to build with but what we do see is an amazing statement from God as pointed out to me by Adam Gray “They will be able to do anything they want.“ They must of been rather advanced in what they were doing to warrant such a statement, or at least developing quickly. Even the Romans had steam engines, it wasn’t for over a thousand years later that steam engines actually came about in real usage, but archeology has shown that the Romans were using steam engines in their time. The technology was lost because slaves were much cheaper and more widely usable, and shortly after the Roman collapse you get the dark ages. So why couldn’t the same of happened after the tower of babel? Because of this it seems logical to me that much of the stories and myths behind the city of Atlantis could be true, based on the Babylonian city where the Tower of Babel was being constructed. When it says that God confused their language it also says that he forced them to spread throughout the earth. This kind of makes me wonder if there wasn’t a time when the earth did have one large land mass where everyone lived for a time. Similar to what some would say Pangea was (which is also completely possible since the continents do fit together like a giant jig saw puzzle) but moved apart rapidly by God when confusing the people. It would help to explain why we get several different buildings of Pyramids around the world about the same time. Maybe they were trying to finish what they set out to do in the first place, building towers to the heavens… it has been said that both the Egyptian pyramids, and the Aztec pyramids were built to honor their gods… I don’t know for sure, nor do I have any real proof or scholarly writings that support my theories, they’re just random weird theories that I have.

The experiment really doesn’t have anything much at all to do with CodySortore.com however, I am going to include this site in the time as well. With Ren. Faire on the weekends I’ve really not had much time to do anything. I really only have three days a week to be running around mostly for faire. Don’t get me wrong, I love faire, but it’ll be a relief when it is over! Which is after this weekend. I still need to be working for MTV, which is cool too because I make good money with them and it’ll allow me to launch the new site with a PRweb Press release, and some other advertising to actually maybe get a few people on the site! That’s the goal at least. As I’ve been writing the story for it I’ve noticed that I may not actually have the time even without faire to be updating each week, so I’d also like to delay the launch of the new story/site for that reason as well. It gives me a little bit of time to get some extra weeks build up and already written just schedule them to post as I need them to! Also save up some money and launch the site as it needs to be as afore mentioned. The problem is I still don’t have the time to really update the story. So what the goal is to have a way to get 3 months worth of content for the site while still working for MTV and after that time have it making enough money that I’ll be able to do just that full time…

That brings us to the experiment!! I need to see how much I can get my sites up to making over the weekend! Now this site doesn’t have any advertisements on it, so keeping it updated is the least of my worries or concerns… however it does link to all of my sites that do have ads on them. So just to be thorough and see how much influence my sites have on one another I am updating this one once a day this whole weekend as well! Scheduled posts of coarse, this was written Thursday but won’t be displayed on the site until Sunday (today for all of you). My other sites are set to saturate themselves, over the course of the next 72 hours they will update themselves once every 2 hours until midnight of Sunday. I’ve also put some extra high end incoming links to them… they won’t update like this usually it’s a self destructive routine, there’s just not that much content to put on them! I am just doing things like this to see what they can move up to, see if they don’t burn themselves out, or if updating ridiculously affects the way they react. I feel that things should go well, if the sites make a noticeable jump in profits over the next week I’ll keep on that routine and get things rolling, otherwise I’ll have to delay the launch of the story site a little longer… Don’t get me wrong, I really want to launch it myself, just without much time I want it to be completely ready before hand.
