Costly Deer

I think I???‚¬?„?m going to spend the rest of this week going around poking all the deer I can find with sticks. Not sharp pointy sticks, dull, long, crooked sticks???‚¬?¦ with multiple branches???‚¬?¦ and some leaves???‚¬?¦ possibly set ablaze. Yeah, that would make me happy for about thirty-seven minutes???‚¬?¦ and 15 seconds???‚¬?¦ and 81 milliseconds. After that I???‚¬?„?d be angry again and restart my petition to tax the deer! They???‚¬?„?ve been freeloading off of our land for too long, living free and clear without paying taxes, or benefiting society???‚¬?¦ except for their tasty steaks. But seriously, just because it???‚¬?„?s legal to kill someone once a year, or well more like all year round if you count bow season, knife season, sword season, small nuclear device season, apache helicopter season???‚¬?¦ but ya know that doesn???‚¬?„?t give you any reason that you shouldn???‚¬?„?t be participating in the system. I mean seriously, what would the national deficit go to if deer were helping pay it down.

Vehicular Air Conditioning

I never really considered AC or Air Conditioning in a car to be terribly important. Of course that was when I was driving cars like my Geo, or the old Nissan I had that never had air conditioning even from the factory. When I got into Rose’s car though where the Air Conditioning was installed at the factory, just the Compressor or something has gone bad… boy do you realize the significance of a good Air Conditioning Compressor at that point. I never realized that there really was that big of a difference in the fans of cars with air conditioning and those without AC.

Nissan Supercharger

Man I miss my old Nissan Sentra! I had this old Nissan Sentra when I first started driving, well not when I first started driving, my first car was the Geo Metro I had drove that for a grand total of about 6 months before it came up with an odd disease and died. Years later we figured out what the problem was and got it running again, but when I was sixteen I had a Nissan Sentra that was awesome! It was awesome because it was basically in terrible condition. The floors were rusted out in some places, holes in the body, the muffler hung down and would scrape along the road, and the vinyl seats were cracked… yet it had one amazingly redeeming factor; it was fast. Really fast at that! See it was the old Nissan 2.4 liter motor, that we put a planed, ported and polished 2.2 liter head on for higher compression, an MSD coil, and it had the rock solid Nissan Transmission that came with it with a brand new clutch and reinforced pressure plate. I loved pulling up next to little rice burners in their Honda’s with Type-R stickers plastered all over the place as they laughed about my muffler hanging down I’d roast the tires and smoke past them to the finish line where they would sit and stare in awe that they got beat by a car that apparently had more rust than clean parts to it.

Volkswagen Turbo

You know, it’s kinda funny… I had big plans for the old Geo. I mean since it’s dead (even though I could fix it I don’t really care to). One thing I REALLY wanted to do was find a Suzuki Swift motor with a Turbo Charger on it and drop it in… yeah, we’re only talking 200 horse power stock… but in a 1,200 lb car that’s pretty good! With a few other modifications (bigger exhaust, hotter coil, better plugs, an MSD ignition, etc.) that little car would be outrunning pimped Honda’s in no time!

Poor Geo

So my 1993 Geo Metro is finally basically dead.?‚?  I don’t know exactly what’s wrong, and really don’t care.?‚?  I loved the little car, don’t get me wrong.?‚?  That’s why I’ve been considering getting a Toyota Yaris here in the near future… which is also why I don’t want to waste the money to get the old geo fixed.?‚?  I mean, it saves me on having to pay for insurance, and saves me the hassle of getting all sorts of crap fixed on it… little things mind you, but they add up after a while.?‚?  So I’m pretty much carless for a while, which is fine, I’ve always been carless :-P?‚?  I know it’s not very vogue in America, but I really don’t like owning a car… there are a few things that I have to own one for… but it’s really very close on the cost to benefit ratio, and closing in on not being worth it.

There are several things that I VERY much so like about owning a car.?‚?  For one I’m a performance freak, but in a very odd way.?‚?  I like REAL performance, not just speed.?‚?  I like tuning a car to get the best gas mileage possible, accelerate rapidly, corner flawlessly, and simply be fun to drive.?‚?  I don’t really need a car that goes over 100mph, especially if it’s a smaller car (the sensation increases with smaller vehicles).?‚?  That’s why I like small cars, one day I want to own a Lotis Elise, maybe I’m weird but even though they’re not that expensive, it’s still my dream car!

Insurance Quotes

If I’ve said it before I’ve said it a thousand times Insurance is a great thing to have, and it will keep you from losing everything you have if you get into a traffic collision. I’m definitely giggling about that one, but you would have to have seen Hot Fuzz to be laughing along with me. “We don’t say ‘accident’ anymore. We say ‘traffic collision’.” “Why not?” “Because the word ‘accident’ implies that no one was at fault.” yeah… anyways definitely one of those you’d have to be there kind of moments. Woah, when did I add the car chat category? And why? I mean yeah I used to be obsessed with cars but I don’t think I’ve ever really talked much about them on here… and they’re just about the least of my worries when rent is coming in, gotta pay utilities, and well eating is a factor as well.

Lawn Ornament

This is one of those few times where I’m going to let the pictures do most of the talking… they say a lot.

Driverside of my Honda

Frontend of the Honda

Rear Side of the Honda

^^ If you notice on the left side of the picture?‚?  my Trek 4900 sits maching the Honda… It likes to brag about the fact that it not only costs more than double what I paid for the Honda but also has lasted me 5 years, where as the Honda only survived 1.5 years, and cost much more in maintenance/fuel/insurance than the Trek could ever imagine costing me…

Rearend of the Honda

^^ Look at that, second most expensive part on the car the Flowmaster 40 series exhaust is left unscathed!?‚?  Luckily?‚?  because of this lil guy, and the Weber my dad is trading me the exhaust, and my carburetor for a new car (not saying that it’s not worth it, combined they’re worth more than the Honda itself, and without the two the old Honda wouldn’t still be running).

The Weber lived!

^^ Amazingly enough the most expensive part of the vehicle survived… The Weber 32/36 DGEV made it through the crash!!! And even got it’s own little cubby hole under the crinkled hood :-P

The accident is explained a little more in depth in my previous entry, but nobody got hurt, and everything of value is recoverable.?‚?  Still can’t find my jewelry pliers which are somewhere in the wreckage… hoping that they’re not sitting on the side of the road off I-70, but I’m not finding them so once the insurance comes in the first thing I’m doing is getting a new set of pliers! Well, off to deal with the insurance company, and then a nice recreational bike ride ;-)

Derailed

haha!!!!! So the theme for last week is “derailed” despite some minor hiccups and little things during the week that started this concept for me, the full realization that this was not a mere coincidence but rather a weekly theme came crashing in on Friday.?‚?  After the first week of the Ren. Faire I was pretty gun hoe for getting everything ready that I physically could.?‚?  I was to have more space, and be alone this time so I wouldn’t have the problem of being confused for the shotty craftsmanship of the others that I was sharing the booth with last time.?‚? ?‚?  I spent most of the week frantically running around to get everything done that I possibly could, including placing orders for clasps and other things necessary to finish off some of the smaller pieces and get a full line of earrings ready.?‚?  About mid week I got thrown a curve ball that sort of got me off track with working, making it to where instead of loving the idea of getting everything ready possible and not sleeping to work (cux who needs sleep?) but instead staying up late and not really wanting to even go to Ren. Faire.?‚?  I was going anyways because it is a good opportunity and I wasn’t about to throw out anything for my business just because of a stupid notion or whim of mine.?‚?  Then Friday comes… I spent the morning going over my checklist of what I need, or might need for the faire as I packed clothing and other small items that I had waited to the last minute to have ready.?‚?  Then I waited around for my mom to come home from work since her car was ready from the body shop and every day she kept the rental car she was being charged for now that the car was ready the insurance company wasn’t paying for the rental any more (Brook had a little wreck with my mom’s car for those of you?‚?  who didn’t know).?‚?  She came home I went with her to drop off the renal, then pick up her car then going over to Tiana’s to head off to St. Louis.?‚?  Leaving early was nice, but it wasn’t fun leaving the city as I-70 over by the stadium the traffic was stop and go… mostly in stop mode.?‚?  Whatever was causing the backup, probably just rush hour traffic finally got the idea to move though, traffic picked up to about 30mph which was good, and I decided that it would be good to get rid of the sauce I was holding for the cheese sticks that were consumed.?‚?  I looked down at the dash to make sure it was clear, and looked up to see that the SUV in front of me was at a dead stop… It didn’t take any time for me to react, or consider if there was enough room to stop, I saw the vehicle and knew that there wasn’t enough room and nothing was going to get me out of harms way since there were cars on the other side.?‚?  The only thought that went through my head was that they were going to move, because this could not be happening… uh… they didn’t move, luckily because I did see it and tried to stop I only barely hit them… enough to mess up my hood a little and cause some slight troubles, but nothing too terrible, we’d still make it to St. Louis… that is until the guy behind me hit me at who knows what speed.?‚?  He hit fairly hard being that he wedged the front end of my car under the Ford Explorer in front of me, and put my rear bumper into the back seat… needless to say destroying the tent, and a variety of tools I had in the trunk… luckily no one was hurt, and we did make it to St. Louis with all of my jewelry stock.?‚?  We called ahead and told them that we had been in an accident and everything, also explaining that the tent was destroyed which posed a bit of a problem… but they said that we’d figure things out when we got there.?‚?  When we did get there however they had a gorgeous tent setup with some awesome hand painted backdrops and it was truly much better than I could of even done on my own.?‚?  I’m glad that I went, and glad I got to meet the people I did… truly awesome people, and it was great to have such a supportive group of people who could take care of us when we couldn’t do things ourselves.
