Web Hosting Reviews

You guys know that with my now 18 sites that I run (and growing at least on a monthly basis if not daily) it’s important that I have über reliable service when it comes to web hosting! Especially with recently moving to a new dual core 2.2ghz, 2 gigs RAM, 250GB raid 1 hdd I’ve spent a LOT and I mean a lot of time on web hosting review sites, and on hosting forums. Yeah, it’s important to get a good price, but that’s the least of my concerns if I can’t get reliable service, well reliable and powerful service. This silly blog gets nearly 600 people a day to it so it’s necessary that I get as much bandwidth as possible, since this site is just a personal blog, and my other sites have a much higher audience as they’re my money making sites!

What spammers really mean

I got an email earlier today… well it’s best to just show it to you, they’ve started getting really funny.

Hello!!!

My name is Alarice, I am tall, good looking, perfect body figure. I saw your mail and was delighted to contact you, I hope you will be the true honest and caring person that I have been looking 4, And I have something special to tell you about me, So please contact me directly through my email address at iamastupidspammer@yahoo.com so that I can also send my picture directly to you.

Regards
Alarice.

What they really were trying to say is:

yo

My name is joe spams a lot, I am short, fat, amazingly unattractive, with man boobs.  I bought your email address from someone who checks DNS records, and a variety of other sources that I’m too lazy to bother with myself, and was ecstatic to contact you because I feel you are just the gullible little sap to help me in spreading virus’ and malware around the interwebs.  Please contact me through iamafatbastard@yahoo.com so that I can send you the virus I created directly!

suckah!
Joe Spammer

You just can’t escape ‘em any more.  I changed the email address in both because I don’t want any silly people being added to the ultimate spam list online… I’m pretty used to it owning 17 websites the only way I could of escaped it was with private registration years ago… now it’s way too late and I really don’t care, every once in a while I actually am somewhat entertained by these spam emails.  I mean seriously… who’s going to believe an email like that?  Obviously someone did or it wouldn’t of been circulating so much.  I say the same thing about the “Want a penis so huge that no girl will ever want to have sex with you” emails as well… who responds to them?  Who buys the meds?  Are we really that sick and deprived of a world?  A lot of people complain about the spam messages, there’s really only one solution though QUIT F-ING BUYING THE PRODUCTS!!! If there was no money in it spammers wouldn’t send out their messages plain and simple.  Don’t click on the links, and don’t buy the products and the spam messages go away.  I also have my emails set up in such a way that my Paypal account is attached to an email that NO ONE will ever know… if I get an email via paypal to any other email address I know right away that it’s spam… if I do get a legit seeming email with fairly good cloaking on the URL and return email address all I do is go to paypal.com and see if anything is really up… NEVER click on links within emails unless you are positive that they are safe.

Also if you don’t have an anti-virus there is no reason for that since there are plenty of great free antivirus products out there!  I’ve used AVG’s free version for years… I’ve also paid for plenty of services both virus, spam, and malware protection.  AVG has a great root kit detector also free as well.

The generosity of strangers

Wow, so I can officially say that I’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity that has been shown to Holly.  A couple of weeks ago my mom asked me to make a website for her friend Holly Fannin, so I did.  The reasons she wanted me to make a website for Holly is because she was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.  In fact this is her diagnosis sheet:

Holly Fannin's Diagnosis Sheet

I’m not sure what everything on there means, but I know it’s bad.  What’s worse is that Holly has no insurance, no vacation time, and is the sole provider for her family.  When I heard this coming from my mom I accepted the challenge of creating a fundraising site for Holly.  Of course it’s not all about funds, prayer is much more important in this situation than a few measly dollars.  But what I’ve seen in the last few days since I finished up the site and began spreading the word is an amazing generosity!  Numerous comments left on the site, tons of prayers, and help beyond belief in the department of spreading the word.  Magnus Grafex of Family Help Tree gave the most amazing donation when I was asking bloggers to help spread the word through their blogs.  Magnus went above and beyond what I asked and not only blogged about Holly’s situation, but put up a $100 campaign on PayPerPost at $5 a piece to get other bloggers to help in spreading the word!  The FaceBook group has grown to over 100 people in a matter of days (even though it is depressing to see the “snowball effect” group with 90,000 members after 7 days and the growth of Holly’s group growth slow to a crawl), and last night over 300 people visited the site via StumbleUpon.com in less than a 30 minute time period!

The outpouring of love for Holly has been amazing to watch over the last few days… but it’s also been exhausting.  I’ve promoted a Mixx submission, passed around the StumbleUpon link, sent out invitations to the FaceBook group, and been to hundreds of blogs asking for any assistance they can give.  Needless to say I’m tired, it’s been three days of promoting and watching stats to see what’s working and what isn’t.  So I’m taking a break today.  When the articles start coming in from the PPP campaign I’ll stumble all of them to get more traffic, and I still have yet to beg the people of BlogCatalog.com to help me out, but I still only have 60 friends on there so I’m building up the friends list first, and then it will be time to ask for help.  Today I’m going to do a little bit of room cleaning, and put up my mom’s blinds in her room, don’t let the message stop though!

An old friend

I’m actually out of my own free will promoting another website here! haha, I know, no one is paying me or anything. I guess you might say that I feel that I sort of owe it to Petition Online for all the valuable service they’ve provided over the years. They sort of seem like an old friend of mine, and I really hate to see them losing power! When I first started using PetitionOnline.com they were a PR7 and doing quite well! Over the years I’ve made 29 petitions myself… amazing to look back at them. Most were complete silliness in fact and I use them because you can add an option to put websites with your signatures so I use them for link quality back to my sites. In creating so many petitions I’ve also created a lot of content for them and they get money out of that so it’s really a win, win situation for us. Allowing URL’s in your signatures isn’t always a great idea, and I’ve started to advance my petition creating techniques to avoid spammers with forcing people to either agree or disagree with the petitions! It works out, and yet even with how few petitions I actually see that allow you to put links in your signatures they still get quite a few spammers, so I figure whatever I can do to get things out of the ordinary is a good thing.

Anyways, the reason I am really writing this is because Petition Online seems to of added a new feature! PetitionOnline.com is a small branch of Artifice Inc. From every aspect I look at it PetitionOnline.com has no bearings on the Artifice company, but I will give them credit for creating the site! Artifice, Inc. is an architecture company, I’ve never been exactly sure on what they do, but I believe they make CAD software, along with some other things relating to the business. So where do petitions come in? Quite simple, they give link quality! What better way of getting thousands of incoming links to your website than allowing other people to create the content for you? In the early days of Web 2.0 the concepts behind PetitionOnline.com are simply ingenious, and have even kept their strength through several evolutions of the net… but since PetitionOnline was doing it’s job, and it was not their main business it got neglected quite a bit with very few updates and slow at that. Because of this neglect the strength they once found in Petition Online has begun to dwindle a bit. The once iconic PR7 PetitionOnline.com has slipped all the way down to a PR5 even though Petition Online is stronger than they’ve ever been! The reason for this is simple, content is being spewed out on the net at an astronomical rate. Most of you don’t look at things this way but every article I publish on this site is a new page, every ten I publish is another new page, every different day I publish on is another new page, every tag I include is yet ANOTHER new page… which is partially why Petition Online did so good in the early days, they took advantage of this page creation early on. Every petition created was three new pages, every hundred signatures was another new page. This very much so helped out the spread of information for Petition Online, however others have caught on and things seem to be changing rapidly. For one I generally include a minimum of five tags per entry on this blog alone, that’s six pages created with every entry no matter what. The way that PR or Page Rank works is simple it takes the number of indexed pages that Google has online and gives you a rating based upon the number of pages that point to yours on average with the number of pages that point to other pages on the net… it also factors in the strength of those links. The people behind Petition Online finally got the drift though and have now added a feature that allows you to add tags to your petition. This feature will definitely increase the value of Petition Online again, only I fear it may be a slow process, which is why I am content with helping them out a bit with some incoming links and news articles to get people using their new feature.

I’m sure many of you have used or signed petitions on PetitionOnline.com and surely owe them a favor for hosting the site at the very least. I know with their addition of the FaceBook button a while back I’ve seen a number of petitions end up on Facebook as groups getting people to sign their petition, which is very much so a help, but it needs more. We’ve got to keep the free ideas marketplace alive!

Time for an experiment!

The experiment really doesn’t have anything much at all to do with CodySortore.com however, I am going to include this site in the time as well.  With Ren. Faire on the weekends I’ve really not had much time to do anything.  I really only have three days a week to be running around mostly for faire.  Don’t get me wrong, I love faire, but it’ll be a relief when it is over!  Which is after this weekend.  I still need to be working for MTV, which is cool too because I make good money with them and it’ll allow me to launch the new site with a PRweb Press release, and some other advertising to actually maybe get a few people on the site!  That’s the goal at least.  As I’ve been writing the story for it I’ve noticed that I may not actually have the time even without faire to be updating each week, so I’d also like to delay the launch of the new story/site for that reason as well.  It gives me a little bit of time to get some extra weeks build up and already written just schedule them to post as I need them to!  Also save up some money and launch the site as it needs to be as afore mentioned.  The problem is I still don’t have the time to really update the story.  So what the goal is to have a way to get 3 months worth of content for the site while still working for MTV and after that time have it making enough money that I’ll be able to do just that full time…

That brings us to the experiment!!  I need to see how much I can get my sites up to making over the weekend!  Now this site doesn’t have any advertisements on it, so keeping it updated is the least of my worries or concerns… however it does link to all of my sites that do have ads on them.  So just to be thorough and see how much influence my sites have on one another I am updating this one once a day this whole weekend as well!  Scheduled posts of coarse, this was written Thursday but won’t be displayed on the site until Sunday (today for all of you).  My other sites are set to saturate themselves, over the course of the next 72 hours they will update themselves once every 2 hours until midnight of Sunday.  I’ve also put some extra high end incoming links to them… they won’t update like this usually it’s a self destructive routine, there’s just not that much content to put on them!  I am just doing things like this to see what they can move up to, see if they don’t burn themselves out, or if updating ridiculously affects the way they react.  I feel that things should go well, if the sites make a noticeable jump in profits over the next week I’ll keep on that routine and get things rolling, otherwise I’ll have to delay the launch of the story site a little longer… Don’t get me wrong, I really want to launch it myself, just without much time I want it to be completely ready before hand.

Go Kieffe & Sons!

Finally a business bold enough to show that they don’t put the all mighty dollar before everything else! At Kieffe and Sons Ford they believe more in a good strong moral value than the dollar value. Recently in southern California a radio ad has been running for Kieffe & Sons Ford. We’ve been laying down and letting the minority rule on issues of feminism, and religion for too long! I agree with Kieffe and Sons when they say “sit down and shut up”

Did you know that there are people in this country who want prayer out of schools, “Under God” out of the Pledge, and “In God We Trust” to be taken off our money?

But did you know that 86% of Americans say they believe in God? Now, since we all know that 86 out of every 100 of us are Christians who believe in God, we at Kieffe & Sons Ford wonder why we don’t just tell the other 14% to sit down and shut up. I guess maybe I just offended 14% of the people who are listening to this message. Well, if that is the case, then I say that’s tough, this is America folks, it’s called free speech. And none of us at Kieffe & Sons Ford are afraid to speak up. Kieffe & Sons Ford on Sierra Highway in Mojave and Rosamond: if we don’t see you today, by the grace of God, we’ll be here tomorrow.

Social petworking

haha, ok I couldn’t resist that title. Most of you have seen me speak of how important Social networking is to my website campaigns anymore. Any website needs to be a part of some sort of social network in fact, it’s the only way that you’re going to be found! Anyways, there is now social networking sites for your pets. I found this opportunity for AnAmigo which is a… well just as I said before a social networking site for your pets. You log on and create a profile, not for yourself, but for your furry little friend! Then connect with other pet lovers for whatever you might need.

Urban legend

It’s kind of funny the things we believe. Stuff that is passed down from generations and simply taken for face value without investigation because it comes from a source we trust. Jordan was starting to get sick yesterday so I gave him the best wisdom I could (since I couldn’t get him to gargle salt water, or take ibuprofen) I told him what my coaches in wrestling always told me. When we’d come to practice sick (and we had not choice to not come) they’d make us put on hoodies, coats, and long pants to run with the rest of the group of people. We’d simply run with everyone else until we threw up… combination of being sick, physical exhaustion, and WAY over heating yourself usually does that. Once we threw up we could go home. It worked all the time for me, I’d feel one hundred times better.

Author House Self Publishing

Being that most of the people who read my blog are bloggers themselves I have to ask, wouldn’t you like to be an author? Make a living from your hobby? I’ve often felt that way I know for sure. Author house helps to open that door a little bit.

Bad Credit Loans

Seems that nowadays everything runs on credit. Heck it’s hard to even get good insurance rates with bad credit. And once you have bad credit just try getting a loan! Which then puts you in the perpetual bad credit cycle. Nobody wants to have bad credit forever, but the only way to improve that is to get some loans that you keep up with to get a better credit score.
